Mr. Niholai Dimitrov, mayor of Nessebar municipality was awarded the national prize “Social services Manager for Year 2009” at a ceremony in Sofia. The prestige distinction was given to him by Ms. Ginka Chavdarova, executive director of the National union of the municipalities in Bulgaria. “Social policy reflects the maturity of civil society. With our social activity my team and I try to make Nessebar a beautiful place to live as it has been through its three thousand two hundred and twenty-year old history. I am glad you have acknowledged our efforts and today I receive a prize for them”, were the words of Mr. Dimitrov. The mayor was distinguished in the category “Mayor of Municipality” for his activity in increasing the quality of the care for disadvantaged people, creation of contemporary material conditions and European atmosphere of life, organizing and encouragement of campaigns, optimizing the working conditions of those engaged in the social sphere, provision of free places in the kindergartens for ten years in advance.
The distinction has been given for five successive years by the National society of social services organization, Human recourses in Bulgaria and Euro integration foundation, Human recourses magazine with the partnership of the Agency of social assistance and the support of “Personal Konsult-G. Popov” ET. Among the bearers of the distinction in their category were His Excellency the Japanese ambassador, the TV journalists Anni Salich and Iva Dimitrova. The event took place under the patronage of Totyo Mladenov, minister of labour and social policy.
The guests at the ceremony were entertained by folk and pop singers. The vocal group of children with disadvantages from the home in Kosharitsa village sang three songs. Their leader Ms. Tanya Kuneva won another prize for Nessebar municipality, that of “Miss Social Services Manager”. The children wore the medals they had won at the IV International festival of smiling children in Istanbul. They were also invited to participate in the next festival in India in 2011.
